Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She was part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered a wide range of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently along with President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
